People from across Deanery 1 gathered at the Church of the Epiphany in Oak Park to welcome and celebrate the Diocese’s new bishop, the Rt. Rev. Antonio José Gallardo Lucena. Hosted by the Rev. Jamie Barnett, Vicar of Church of the Epiphany, and with the Very Rev. Melissa Campbell-Langdell, Dean of Deanery 1, the gathering was a joyful opportunity for clergy and laypeople to meet one another, welcome Bishop Antonio, and share in the life of the Diocese.
Bishop Antonio reflected on the importance of holding love and truth together, reminding us that both are essential to our life and ministry as people of God: “Be mirrors of that love and truth of God.” As Deanery 1 begins this new chapter with Bishop Antonio, we celebrate the people, ministries, and communities that make up our Diocese and look forward to all that lies ahead.
