Call to Diocesan Convention 2026
Join us for the 131st Annual Meeting of Convention of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Los Angeles on Friday and Saturday, November 13 and 14, 2026 at the Riverside Convention Center at 3637 5th Street, Riverside 92501.
This will be the first Diocesan Convention presided over by the Rt. Rev. Dr. Antonio José Gallardo Lucena, VIII Bishop of Los Angeles who was elected at the 2025 Convention and consecrated earlier this year.
The theme of this year’s Convention draws from the theme of Bishop Gallardo’s episcopacy: Living in Love & Truth | Viviendo en Amor y Verdad. “In a diocese as large, diverse, multilingual, multicultural, and politically varied as the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, Ephesians 4:15 is not just a slogan; it is a way of exercising episcopal ministry. As your Bishop in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, this means leading with theological clarity and pastoral charity at the same time: telling the truth about injustice, exclusion, conflict, and institutional reality, while doing so in love and in a way that equips the Church, protects communion, honors cultural diversity, and helps the whole diocesan body grow into the life of Christ.”
Schedule
Convention will kick off the morning of Friday, November 13 with a series of workshops on topics covering mission, ministry, and theology. We are excited to welcome the Rev. Lauren Grubaugh Thomas – Episcopal priest, writer, and activist in the diocese of Colorado – who will offer one of the workshops on Friday and preach at the Eucharist Saturday morning.
After the workshops and lunch, the business session will be called to order on Friday afternoon, and that evening will be the traditional hospitality reception and banquet dinner. Business will reconvene Saturday morning with Holy Eucharist and adjourn by 4:00 p.m.

12pm-1pm – Lunch buffet served in the Raincross Ballroom
1:15pm-2:15pm – Workshops: Session 2
2:45pm – Call to Order
6pm – Hospitality reception
6:30pm – Banquet dinner (tickets must be purchased in advance)
SATURDAY
8am – Registration opens
8:30am – Workshops: Session 3
9:30am – Reconvene with Holy Eucharist
12:15pm – Lunch buffet served in the Raincross Ballroom
Convention will adjourn by 4pm
Spanish translation and ASL interpretation will be provided.
The workshops and business sessions (including Eucharist) will be livestreamed to the diocesan YouTube channel.
Meals
Coffee and concessions will be available for purchase throughout the day on Friday and Saturday.
A lunch buffet will be served on Friday and Saturday afternoons in the Raincross Ballroom. Tickets must be purchased in advance. A limited number of tickets may be available on site.
Following the conclusion of business on Friday evening, there will be a complimentary hospitality reception in the Upper Concourse and then dinner in the Raincross Ballroom. Tickets to the dinner be purchased in advance. Tickets will not be available for purchase on site. (Seating will not be assigned.)

Lodging
The Convention office has contracted with the Marriott at the Riverside Convention Center ($165/night) and the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa ($250/night) for a group rate on rooms for Thursday and Friday night. Follow the links to the reservation pages where the group rate will automatically be applied.
Exhibit Hall
We will be hosting the annual Exhibit Hall in the Upper Concourse. All are welcome to sign up to host a booth; tables are $150 for the first, and $75 for every additional table. Advertising opportunities are also available. More information about the Exhibit Hall and exhibitor registration can be found here.
Pre-Convention Diocesan Presentations and Deanery Assemblies
The annual pre-Convention diocesan presentations will be hosted online in late October with the individual Deanery Assemblies following directly after the presentation in breakout rooms in the same Zoom meeting.
Deaneries 3, 4 & 5 – Saturday, October 24 @ 10 a.m.
Deaneries 6, 7 & 8 – Saturday, October 24 @ 2 p.m.
Deaneries 1, 2, 9 & 10 – Saturday, October 31 @ 10 a.m.
Here is the Zoom link to attend. The link is the same for all three meetings. No registration is necessary.
If you are unable to attend your Deanery’s scheduled Zoom, you are welcome to attend the Diocesan presentation on another date.
Resolutions & Amendments
One resolution has been submitted for consideration at Convention and is currently under review by the Committee on Resolutions. Once approved, the text will be published.
A second reading of the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution regarding Deanery Youth Delegates will be presented at Convention. (For reference, here is a copy of the current diocesan Constitution & Canons last revised 2020.)
Additional information will be posted on the Convention website and emailed directly to delegates, so please make sure to submit your Representation to Diocesan Convention 2026 form (for congregations and institutions) or Annual Ministry Report form (for non-parochial, non-stipendiary, and retired clergy) as soon as possible to receive these important updates and instructions.
