Choral Evensong for the Feast of St Michael & All Angels
The Church of the Angels in Pasadena will offer Choral Evensong on Sunday, September 27, at 4:00 p.m., featuring the church’s choir joined by members of Jouyssance, the parish’s resident early music ensemble.
The service forms part of the parish’s patronal observance of the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels and marks the anniversary of the church’s consecration on that feast day in 1889. An ecclesiastical peculiar of the Diocese of Los Angeles, the Church of the Angels also bears the designation The Bishop’s Chapel. Its finely crafted English Gothic Revival interior and historic 1889 Frank Roosevelt organ, Opus 433, provide a distinctive setting for Evensong, one of Anglicanism’s great traditions of choral worship.
A reception will follow on the church patio. Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted in support of the occasion.
The church is located at 1100 Avenue 64 in Pasadena. Parking is available along Avenue 64, on adjacent Church Street, and in the parish hall parking lot across Church Street.
