St. Paul’s has long been a distinguished presence in the community, but its potential has not yet been realized. The parish family includes people from diverse backgrounds and experiences, some young and most simply young at heart. The congregation gives thanks for the blessings experienced through its past dedicated and caring rectors and stands ready to meet the challenges facing the parish.

The congregation looks forward to a new chapter in parish life and invites candidates to consider joining them as they seek to better serve Christ.

Santa Paula: St. Paul’s / Emmanuel Church

Open position: part-time joint Episcopal/Lutheran call.

St. Paul’s / Emmanuel is looking for its next clergy leader. On July 13, 2003, St. Paul’s Episcopal and Emmanuel Lutheran Church signed a covenant outlining the responsibilities of the two congregations. After several years of shared programs and worship, the congregations officially became one in 2006. A blended service reflects and values both Episcopal and Lutheran traditions and has been accepted by the Diocese and the Synod.

The congregation is a Christian community whose members support one another in times of joy and adversity. Its stated mission is to be a House of Prayer for All People. Members seek to serve God, their church family, and the wider community, welcoming people where they are and inviting all who enter into relationship.

Pasadena: All Saints Church

Associate Priest or Lay Person / Director of Congregational Life and Pastoral Care.

All Saints Church is a large, progressive, and dynamic Episcopal church in Pasadena, a city known for its rich cultural life, history, and architecture. This vibrant, diverse parish has a long history of justice work, interfaith relationships, and innovative ministry. Its mission is to walk with a revolutionary Jesus for the healing and transformation of ourselves, our community, and the world. The church is dedicated to becoming a Beloved Community of Belonging centered on Radical Inclusion, Courageous Justice, Joyful Spirituality, and Ethical Stewardship.

The Director of Congregational Life and Pastoral Care may be a lay or ordained person. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Rector/Priest-in-Charge and supervising the Associate for Congregational Life. The director provides compassionate leadership for the care, connection, and hospitality of the All Saints community.

Primary responsibilities

Serve as a primary contact for parishioners seeking prayer, care, or support regarding emergent challenges.
Coordinate and participate in hospital, home, and care-facility visits.
Oversee lay-led pastoral care ministries, including Eucharistic visitors, grief support, prayer groups, and meal ministries.
Maintain appropriate records of care needs and follow-up in collaboration with clergy.
Respond to crises with compassion, confidentiality, and appropriate referrals.
Strengthen parish community through programs and gatherings that build connection across generations.
Design and coordinate hospitality ministries, including newcomer integration, parish receptions, and fellowship events.
Support existing lay ministries and help create new ministries that meet congregational needs.
Collaborate with staff and vestry leaders to align parish life with the mission of All Saints.
Recruit, train, and mentor lay leaders in pastoral and parish-life ministries.
Equip volunteers with resources and skills in listening, presence, and confidentiality.
Facilitate scheduling, assignments, and follow-up for pastoral care and parish-life events.
Provide regular updates to staff, vestry, and ministry groups on impact and needs.
Maintain a visible presence on Sundays and at parish gatherings.

Qualifications

Deep compassion for people and a commitment to pastoral presence.
Experience in pastoral care, congregational life, or community engagement, whether lay or ordained.
Strong organizational skills, a discerning sense of urgency, and sound administrative capacity.
A collaborative approach to ministry and teamwork.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment in sensitive situations.
Cultural humility and the ability to work effectively across generations and diverse communities.
A commitment to building a beloved community of belonging and confronting injustice in all its forms.
Alignment with the mission and values of All Saints Church.

Irvine: St. Andrew’s

Seeking a part-time Assistant Priest.

St. Andrew’s is seeking a half-time priest with strong preaching, interpersonal, and collaborative skills. The ability to welcome new and diverse people and communicate with young people is essential. This person will assist with preaching and Christian formation and partner with the rector in supporting the congregation’s ministries.

St. Andrew’s is a well-established church with a large Children’s Center that has served Irvine for more than 40 years. The congregation is a nurturing community of faith that seeks to share God’s love and welcome everyone wherever they may be in their journey of faith.
