Bishop Antonio José Gallardo Lucena visited St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Compton on All Saints Sunday, November 1, celebrating a congregation that has been a vital part of the community for more than a century. With a longstanding commitment to faith, service, and neighborhood outreach, St. Timothy’s continues to build upon its rich history while finding new ways to connect with those it serves. Brother Anthony “Tony” Miller reflected on how the congregation expanded its reach during the COVID-19 pandemic through online gatherings, nearly doubling in size and connecting worshippers throughout Southern California.
The congregation continues to serve its neighbors through monthly food distribution to the Tower Manor community, online Bible gatherings, and in-person fellowship. The Rev. Canon Jamesetta Glosson Hammons, who has longstanding ties to St. Timothy’s, expressed gratitude for the congregation’s faithful presence in Compton and its ongoing commitment to ministry and community.
