Canterbury Irvine, Director

One clergy or one lay, to be elected for a one-year term
     Canterbury Irvine is the Episcopal chaplaincy program at the University of California at Irvine.


Canterbury USC, Director

One clergy or one lay, to be elected for a one-year term

     Canterbury USC is the Episcopal chaplaincy program at the University of Southern California.

 

Canterbury Westwood, Director

One clergy or one lay, to be elected for a one-year term.

     Canterbury Westwood is the Episcopal chaplaincy program at the University of California at Los Angeles.

 
Holy Family Adoption Services Agency

One clergy or one lay, to be elected for a three-year term

     Holy Family Adoption Services is the newest institution of the Diocese of Los Angeles, having been received at Diocesan Convention in 2007. It works with adoptive and birth families and foster parents to provide the best possible homes for children.

Corporation of the Diocese, Director

(Canon XXI)
Three lay, each to be elected for a three-year term

   The Corporation of the Diocese oversees a variety of matters pertaining to finances, insurance, taxes, legal documents, purchase and sale of properties, renovations, bequests, etc. The Corporation generally meets from 2 to 4 pm on the third Tuesday of the month at the Cathedral Center.


Commission on Ministry, member

One clergy and one lay, each to be elected for a three-year term

     The Commission on Ministry is required by the National Canons. The Commission advises and assists the Bishop in the implementation of Title III of the National Canons; in the determination of present and future opportunities and needs for the ministry of all baptized persons; and in the design and oversight of the ongoing process for recruitment, discernment, formation for ministry, and assessment of readiness. The Commission meets on the second Tuesday of each month between September and June.

 
Diocesan Investment Trust, Trustee

(Canon XXV)
One clergy or one lay for a four-year term
     This group oversees the administration of the Diocesan Investment Trust. The Trustees’ objective is to achieve reasonable income while seeking to preserve capital. The meetings are held quarterly at the California Club on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 11 am (January, April, July and October).

 

 
Diocesan Council, member

One clergy and one lay, each for a three-year term

     Diocesan Council is a body of elected lay and clergy representatives from each Deanery and at large who serve between meetings of Diocesan Convention to oversee the programs of the Diocese. The Council generally meets on the second Thursday of the month from 4 to 6 pm at the Cathedral Center.

 

 
Ecclesiastical Court, Judge

One clergy and one lay, each for a three-year term
     The Court hears cases in accordance with the canons of The Episcopal Church. In each diocese, there is an Ecclesiastical Court for the trial of any priest or deacon subject to its jurisdiction. The Ecclesiastical Trial Court makes provision for a church attorney, elects lay persons and clerics (the majority of the Court is clergy), and elects from its members a presiding judge.

 
Standing Committee, member

One clergy and one lay, each for a four-year term
     The Standing Committee acts as the Ecclesiastical Authority when the Bishop and the Bishop Suffragan are absent or incapacitated. The Committee provides advice and consent to the Bishop on property issues, presentment issues for clergy, recommendations from the Corporation, and other legal aspects of the Diocese. The meetings are held at the Cathedral Center, usually on the fourth Wednesday of the month from 1 to 3 pm.
